I was a little young to appreciate Janis Joplin’s powerful music before she died of a drug overdose on October 4, 1970. However, in the mid-70s I became a big fan of her powerhouse voice and lyrics, and her electrifying stage performances. Watching recordings of her performing at the Monterey Pop Festival and Woodstock, who wouldn’t have been mesmerized? As a tribute, i created this psychedelic portrait of Janis Joplin.
